What do you mean by "the system won't boot" ? Is the Emax-II going through an endless SCSI chain loop ? (showing all SCSI ID's in a loop without recognizing the internal HD with the OS on it ?) I thought your Emax-II was actually able to boot but just didn't accept the cdrom drive when you change the SCSI device with the Drive Select button. What happens if you disconnect the internal HD's and connect the CDROM drive as the only SCSI device to the Emax-II ? Can it boot from floppy in that case ? Can it boot from the CDROM if you enter a CD containing the OS ? (you can create such CDROM image with EMXP and then burn this .EZ2 image to a CD by replacing the extension .EZ2 with .ISO and burning it with your favourite CD burning software) --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "Adam" <fake@...> wrote: > > ok. so i have TWO emax II's that behave the same. > > things like on-off termination has been tested. > > the Plextor behaves just like the apple cd300plus cd rom which is not supposed to work anyway. > > both emax ii's have internal disk: one has an apple scsi hd, the other has a syquest. > > now if i attached syquest external drives to either of these, everything works perfect. > > as soon as add a cdrom drive either alone or before or after the external syquest, the system wont boot ! > > the cables i used with the cd rom works with the syquest. > > i am going to repeat all the test tomorrow, but if you had better ideas, please let me know. > > this is really odd! > > adam > > > > > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "esynthesist" <esynthesist@> wrote: > > > > Adam, > > > > I honestly think your Emax-II has a problem. > > - You have tested the Teac CDROM (mentioned on this site) and it didn't workon your Emax-II... while it works perfectly on my Emax-II as you know. > > - Now you have tested the Plextor and it doesn't work neither... while this one also works perfectly on my Emax-II. I have just tested it on each of my four Emax-II samplers and it worked well on all of them. > > The jumpers are set as follows: > > 1 - on (prty) > > 2 - on (term) > > 3 - off > > 4 - on (block) > > 5 - off (?) > > The drive is a November 2000 edition in external case. > > > > > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "Adam" <fake@> wrote: > > > > > > The site says it is compatible with the EMAX II. Just bought one from Ebay for quite some money and it does NOT appear to be compatible. > > > > > > I'd appreciate the comments of one who had success with this one. > > > > > > thanks! > > > > > >
