Yeah it is slightly smaller than the viewing area but doesn't seem different than the original screen in use to me.
 
Yeah, mine had the wires along the top.  I'd love to see pics of this new wider one you have.  The only other piece I am tempted to VFD is my MPC 1000, maybe the 60 as well, but i imagine that would be quite expensive and possibly risky.

it was a rack what version vfd did you use was as i remember the one you 
fitted was smaller than the viewing area and

noritake itron used to do the parallel conection on the side like the 
original then stopped

and did the top connection they are nice blue led letters and they look just 
like the sq80 and asr10 fonts nice and you can add jumpers on the back to 
use different fonts in chineese and japan fonts

i have fitted 1 in an m1 and d50 and am i8n consultation with noritake in 
doing 1 for the t1/t2/t3/sy77/99/kawaiak5000 which uses the same size and 
type screen
