I guess my problem is this red box combined with comprehension problems ... sorry http://www.emulatorarchive.com/Samplers/EmaxOverview/EmaxRepairs/LCD_Out_400x300.jpg On the back of those 14 holes, you see, is this red "box". Just removing it and there is space where I can solder the wires onto the pcb? I'm wondering if I have "to do" something with the 2 power connection holes. Are they still required ? FINALLY; which exact modelnumber of the vfd do I need ? Maybe you're wondering why I ask so much questions but the price for the display is almost that what I earn in a month.. Thanks a lot for your help! --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "jammie" <jammie.emma@...> wrote: > > the case of the keyboad you have to remove some of the plastic from the inside of the case where the window is > > i used a dremel and a metal flat rasp to remove 2mm from the inside plastic so the vfd sits nice > > they do look good when done on the keyboards they have special push in contacts these have to be removed and you need to remove the efoil invertor of the main board as its not needed > > and you have to wire single cables to each of the terminals > > and the way they are you have to put some insulation tape over the finished solder pads as these sit under the lcd panel and all smd components of the vfd are not insulated > ----- Original Message ----- > From: freddy1771994 > To: emax@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Saturday, February 04, 2012 4:40 PM > Subject: [emax] Re: EMAX II Display Problems .... > > > > > > --- In emax@...m, "jammie" <jammie.emma@> wrote: > > > > yes and no if you dont have one then you need to cut the lcd and the connector so that you can desolder 1 pin at a time > > 1) I'm not 100% sure where this refers to? So that means I have to desolder them from the display unit so that they're still on the pcb fixed by the red connector box AND THEN soldering them to the new display (sounds easier than I thought before...) BUT ARE THE POSITIONS OF THE CONTACTS PARALLEL? > > > as for colour there is only yellow that i know of in the oled versions > > > if you want blue then vfd will be best but is more work involved and are a little hight in hieght is it going into a rack or keyboard > > 3) KEYBOARD (EMAX II TURBO) > > > as a keyboard you can cut holes in the pcb as the traces are directly behind the lcd panel [[[but on the rack they re not and so you can cut o hole for the large piece on the back that stops the vfd from sitting close to the pcb]]] > > 4) Am I right when I say VFD diplays are much more expensive? They look cool and I'd prefer a VFD... BUT concerning the VFD the position of the contacts aren't the same so that I have to use wires, right? Furthermore I hope that I don't have to "rape" the emax case... > > DO YOU HAVE A LINK JAMMIE EMMA WHERE YOU WOULD BUY YOUR DISPLAY (OLED;VFD)? > > THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!!! > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] >
