Re: Gotek floppy emulator for Emax 1

2012-09-23 by dawtechie

This Emax is like new, it could be the floppy stopped working early on and the unit was boxed and put away. The person I bought it from knows nothing of its background, they found it at a flea market about 100 miles away from E-mu. There is also no history of repair or upgrade work listed on the inside sticker.

So, if it is a plus model, I have to get it booted before I can access SCSI drives other than LUN 0? I will double check the pins, connectors, cable, etc.

Upon turning on the Emax Plus the floppy head advances 3 clicks stops (with any version of the OS), with the "loading software" message and that is far as it gets. I am currently on a quest to setup a SCSI PC, format an old DEC SCSI 535MB drive on LUN 0 and see if I can get it booted.
