Re: Gotek floppy emulator for Emax 1

2012-09-23 by dawtechie

A few weeks before I got the Emax I picked up a KW-30 and successfully made DD/DS boot disks, etc for it using SDisk and the same laptop and floppies so I think my OS images are good.

Really looking forward to sampling with the Emax. I saw a Likelike video using the Emax in his studio and he is pretty good at making records.

I hope to get it booted soon!

I used NOS 720k DD/DS, EMX with a DOS boot disk in an older laptop. I tried all the OS EMX files I could find. I am going to make another set of disks from an XP laptop (internal floppy) with EMXP later today.

The person I bought it from knows nothing of its background, they found it at a flea market about 100 miles away from E-mu. There is also no history of repair or upgrade work listed on the inside sticker.

Upon turning on the Emax Plus the floppy head advances 3 clicks stops (with any version of the OS), with the "loading software" message and that is far as it gets. I am currently on a quest to setup a SCSI PC, format an old DEC SCSI 535MB drive on LUN 0 and see if I can get it booted.
