Can External CD-ROM drive be used with Emax II?

Hi again,

I just bought an External Panasonic SCSI CD-ROM drive to see if it works with the Emax II (2MB) that I just bought. The previous owner of the Emax II just sent me the CD's that supposedly include the Alan Wilder samples and the Emax Element of Sounds samples and was wondering what do I need to do besides connecting the CD-ROM drive to the Emax II? Is there any special configuration needed in order to play the samples on the Emax II?

There are only certain specific models of CDROMs that work with Emax.

Those were slow old drives (1x / 2x) I do believe.

Faster drives don't work.

Unless your drive is on the known working list (you didn't tell us the model), it is probably not going to work.

You can use EMXP to read CDs in though....

The model is Panasonic Portable External 20x PCMCIA SCSI CD-ROM.

So how could I play the samples on the Emax II using EMXP?  With a laptop?

It's likely not SCSI-1 backwards compatible. You can try it though I don't expect that drive to work.

As far as EMXP-
You load the CDs into EMXP, saving the banks, etc, then you can copy to Zip or flash media, if you have one of those type of drives.
