led display emaxii, can anyone confirm that this part is compatible?

Yes, with modification.

The original is EL Backlight (300V), where this is LED Backlight (5V).
So you have to make some modification regards pin 15 / 16 and also there won’t be two pins on the other end for mounting… that’s where the EL backlight normally ties in.

But it should fit size-wise.
It may give you wider / better viewing angle than the current Display.
However, only OLED or VFD give you a display with no concern about viewing angle.

i found one of these for 5$. I was going to get it because I can't beat the price, but I'll wait and see if anyone here can confirm whether this part will be compatible with emaxii keyboard. If not then I'll keep looking for another deal. thx for any help

Original drop in replacement display I used was PC1602BRS-HWA-B from PowerTip.

PDF here which shows the 15/16 pins in regards to A/K for backlight.

make sure that its not to deep original is 9mm from top of pcb to top of glass
on the oled they are 10mm and fit ok on the vfd they are 12mm and are a very
tight fit

the led types are 13-17mm thick and wont fit so be warned before buying check
thickness of display

I see i should probably add a trim to pin 3. and is it ok to connect A and K to vss and vdd? should i just wire A to one of the red leds and connect K to any ground? I see some other conversations about installing displays but the information i'm getting from those conversations is spotty.

and also about the pinout... when looking at the emax display from the top, is pin 1 on the bottom right? I guess i can answer this myself by just taking it apart, but I don't want to that until the parts arrive.

pin 1 will be screened on the pcb and / or the solder pad for pin 1 is usually square where the rest of the pads are round.
Yes you will need to get a trim pot, otherwise, you may not be able to see the display
Yes you can hook the A and K to 5v and gnd. but you must make sure the old connections from the 300V inverter have no way to become connected in any way, else you will let the magic smoke out of your new display…

I have a sample video of installing an OLED- it might help you to watch it just go to youtube or google and search “djtbs1 oled emax"
