Has anyone had any experience with the displays for emax from Muzikelektronik on Ebay?

Here's what the copy says:

"E-mu Emax oled display, will fit a rack or keyboard version. this display is identical in size to the standard lcd, the dimensions are exactly the same incl the thickness ! to install you simply remove the existing one and replace with the oled. no modifications are required to mount the display. this type is the correct pin layout for the emax, there is no rewiring or reconfiguring required, these are the problems that occur when someone attempts to install the wrong type of display !

I will supply the new oled with the pins already attached as pictured, simply remove the old lcd and fit the new oled. NO soldering is required to the display. Afterwards the old voltage inverter (pictured) should be removed + discarded completely. This is what whines and buzzes driving people bananas. The oled doesn't need a backlight so the old inverter should be removed. The quality of this oled is the same as the other ones i have, its fast and responsive, characters change instantly when editing with no ghosting, contrast is superb, background is inky black, it looks fantastic."

Does it just plug in or will there be much soldering involved?

The soldering required depends on whether it is keyboard or rack.
If you have keyboard, solder on the header and then it’s a drop in.
Removing the inverter is optional.

if you have a rack, soldering is more involved.
You can do it yourself (and if you mess up the pins fix the connection with this info):

send the rack display board and oled to me and I can do the work at my hourly rate ($25/hr)
This is typically an hour job.

Keep in mind- if you do try it yourself and I have to repair destroyed traces, the repair time and cost can go up depending on the # of damaged traces.

Go to your local communitiy college and have an electronics student do the work for you for a fee (saves on shipping costs).
