Iomega Jaz Drive

FYI
Thought this recent discovery may be of use to Emax users. I have
sucessfully formatted and saved to a 1 Gig JAZ drive. A whopping 950
Mb!So I now have a major library all on one cartridge - magic :-)

Cheers Peter

Are you sure about that available space? The Emax II OS has a partition limit of 540Mb.
So though it may have formatted it, there should only be around 520Mb of space
available on it and it should have ignored the rest.

I know john, I also was surprised with the size as I had read this
also. But when I change drives to Iomega J it reports 950MB - I
copied all of my internal 40MB HD to it and I have 93% unused on the
Jaz. Perhaps the OS is reporting the size as 950 but in fact it is
only 540Mb?

hmmm good it be that what you are reading is that's it is a "JAZ 950" in "Drive
Selection"? I ask this because the ID name for the drive is actually on the cartridges,
when I put one of my EZ135 cartridges into my EZFlyer 230 my Emax and ESi-32 report
the drive as being an EZ135 because that is what the cartridge is. Conversely my old
Maxtor internal use to report itself in "Drive Select" as being a Maxtor 100S though in
reality after formatting it was only about 95 MB.

I'm too tired to do the math right now, but 40Mb out of 950Mb isn't 7% is it? 54Mb on
540 would be ten percent so 40 would be close to 7% of that.
