Replying or complaining about it is understandable, but 
please take the time to snip out the original message
and url. Most people never do this and quite frankly
your really just resending the spam when you don't.

   I am a moderator of another music gear related Yahoo group and we decided to use the membership request setup. 

This allows the moderator to ask a few simple questions about the related subject (Emax) and either grant access to the group or deny access. 

My experience has been that almost all spammers will not take the time to request membership and if they do they will not reply to the questionnaire.

It does require the Moderator to do a little more work but we check ours twice a week and only once has any spammer slipped by.
