Is this normal?

Is this normal?

2003-11-04 by bassmeter

My Emax 1 looses it's current memory when I format a floppy
disc. Was just wondering if my machine has a bug, or if it
happens to everyone? Also, is there any way around this
problem? Thanks a lot,
Peter

If you read what it says before it starts the formatting process, you
wouldn't ask... go on, READ the text you have to confirm with Yes before it
does anything... that's no bug, it's a necessity because of the small memory
size in the Emax. The only way around this problem is to keep a aset of
preformatted disks at hand, I guess (or use EMX on the PC, but I've found it
to be less reliable than disks formatted directly on the Emax).

Bye,

  Hermann

Thanks Herm,
Didn't want you to think I don't like to read or something. When
you select format it says "erases memory". This COULD mean
memory on the disk you are formatting, which made more sense
to me, since other samplers I own of the same age don't loose
internal memory when formatting a floppy. Glad to know my
machine is operating well.
Thnks again,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Hmm, on second reading my remark came over in a slightly smartass
fashion... I apologize. It wasn't meant that way.

Bye,

  Hermann
