It's definitely possible.  I recently bought an emax from ebay and the
person I bought it from said it was in working condition, except for 1
broken key.  When I got it, it had a couple of broken keys and the keyboard
didn't trigger...I could trigger sounds from another keyboard used as a midi
controller, but the emax keyboard didn't trigger.  It cost me almost as much
to get it repaired as it cost me originally.
