And, while I'm at it - what dos "crc error" means? Some of my disks 
just displays that message while i try loading it.

crc (cyclic redundancy check)is a routine that checks
the integrity of your data/files. 
If you are getting a crc error, chances are your disk
is damaged or corrupted.
