trigger sample loop with one touch

trigger sample loop with one touch

2004-05-26 by superautomatic2000

Hi. I've been scanning the manual trying to solve a problem.
I want to trigger a loopsed sample so that it plays back even when
the key is released, preferably until i press the key the next time.
Is that possible on the emax II at all?

I'm pretty sure the emax doesn't have a latch/unlatch feature for
playing loops. Your best bet would be to use a midi controller that
would send a "note on" message with the first press and a "note off"
message with the second press. This could then toggle the loop on and
off. You might want to look at a Peavey PC1600x for this.

Hope this helps
Steve

I think years and years ago we discussed this. I think the only similar solution is to set
the release envelope all the way up and then put the particular voices into Mono mode.
Once you hit the key the note would start and when you hit the key again it would be
retriggered. If you include the another note that has no voice assigned to it in the
"mono" mode then when you hit it it would cut off the looping voice.

I do something similar to this with open/closed hi-hat combinations. That way it performs
more like drum machines do where as when you trigger the open hi-hat followed by the
closed hi-hat the closed hi-hat cuts of the open.
