FS: EMAX2 2208 2MB MEMORY EXPANSION KIT.

FS: EMAX2 2208 2MB MEMORY EXPANSION KIT.

2004-10-18 by synth_freak_2000

hello list,
i have a new/unused 2mb memory expansion(2208) with the nesesary
software on disc(2m memory expansion software version 2.10 ZD403) and
the instructions for sale.
i want 35 euros plus 3 euros shipping to europe or 5 euros shipping
to US with registered mail. payment via paypal(no extra charge).

i had bought this 2208 expansion kit about 6 years ago, but i never
used it(and so, it is not tested.), as my emax2 had only 2mb of
memory and so it had no 2216 memory board! as you know, the emax2
needs the 2216 memory board FIRST to upgrade from 2mb to 4mb and THEN
you can add the 2208 2mb memory expansion!
so, before buying my 2mb 2208 exansion, make sure that you have a 4mb
emax2 or a 6mb machine. it will not work with 2mb emax2's!
please, anyone interested email me off-list.
many thanks,
bakis.

hello list,
i just saw at the emulator archive, that the latest
memory expansion software disc was 2.14 ZD413.
i do not know if my expansion kit(version 2.10 ZD403)
will work with your 2.14 version emax 2 or not. you
can buy and try at your own risk. (or if anyone
knows?)
bakis.

Re: [emax] FS: EMAX2 2208 2MB MEMORY EXPANSION KIT.

2004-10-18 by Bakis Sirros

hello john,
a rough estimation (euro to dollar ratio is about 1.2)
gives me about 42 USD.
but, i remind you that this 2208 kit has the memory
expansion software version 2.10 ZD403 disc.
you have to test yourself if it will work with your
emax2(if you have the 2.14 version) and i remind you
that i will NOT be responsible for any wierd behavior
that your emax2 may have after your try to install
this memory,or even if your emax2 will stop
working!(how could i know what the result will be?).

btw, is there anyone that can tell me if the memory
expansion software disc has to be the exact same
version as the emax2 operating system version?

if you still want to buy it, please, email me
off-list.
i live in greece.
thank you,
bakis.

EMAX II Power Supply Availability

2004-10-19 by J R

Is it possible to get replacement power supplies for
EMAX II keyboards?

I'm bidding on a unit (ebay) that does not power up
and was curious. If not I'll have a parts unit I
suppose.

LOOKING FOR:

EMAX(SE, SE-HD, or Plus) 1 or 2 keyboard that has the
proper chips installed to perform the zip 100 upgrade.
Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks to all in the forum!

Just making sure you understand this. The part were you say you are looking for "1 or 2
keyboard" is what confuses me.

There is the original Emax (Emax 1) it's 12 bit, mono, real analog filters. It comes in the
following flavours: Emax, Emax SE, Emax HD, Emax SE HD, and Emax Plus. In order to
make this unit Zip 100 compatible you need it to be either HD, SE HD, or Plus capable.
This means that it has a functioning SCSI controller inside. then you'd have to mod it
yourself to have an external SCSI port. If it was only an HD you would have to perform
the SE software upgrade, then use the Plus OS.

Then the is the Emax II (Emax 2) it's 16 bit, stereo, digital filters. Any Emax II would be
capable out of the box with a Zip drive.

Yes you are correct I'm looking for an upgradeable
EMAX (SE, HD, SE HD or Plus) or any EMAX II (Stereo
models preferred).

Are Power Supplies available?

I'm going to need one for the EMAX II keyboard I'm
bidding on.

Thanks again for the clarification, this forum
ROCKS!!!

An Emax SE is not upgradeable without serious effort and work. Just hold out for an SE HD, you'll thank me later.

Keep an eye out on Ebay there always seems to be Emax II's there though lately it has
been sounding more and more like the ones being offered are not in perfect working
order. Someone on this list did put a new power supply in their unit (search the archives)
and others know what the specifications for power supply are. It can take a couple days
to get a response.

Re: [emax] EMAX II Power Supply Availability

2004-10-19 by Micke Askernäs

I've put a new power supply into my emax .. in fact .. if my second emax's
power supply is inreparable, I will put in a new one in that one as well.

What i've done, is taken an old computer power supply. These ones I had
laying around was about 10 years old, and was not the of the cube-version
most computer power supplys are today.

It was 80W and had all the currencies i needed.

I needed to tweak a little bit to get it to fit, but it works great!
