SE / OS plus corrupt? Hard drive issues? guh???

2005-02-09 by a7634@...

OK, apparently my drive wasn't corrupted, after about 20000 tries to
get a boot disk working, the thing just booted off a hard drive again
out of nowhere. It was working fine for about 24 hours, then started
messing up again, now it gets as far as "Loding Software" then freezes
with that stuck on the display, booting up maybe 2% of the time and
working normally if so. I have 4 zip disks i use, with either on SE HD
or OS PLUS on each of them, and its been working fine for a year or
so? Does anyone know why my baby is sick?

does the HD start up when it stays at loading?

My HD doesn't spin sometimes and a few good hard slaps will jump start it (smack while it is off).

I used to open up the HD and spin it by hand, but someone suggested this and it works very well.
