Easy, just follow the instructions at emulator archive about getting an internal scsi cable withtwo ends, and get and internal to external scsi adaptor, drill the hole in the back for the scsi connector and you're pretty much set.

You will need to do the SE upgrade (available in the files section) and install the Plus OS to select scsi id of the drive you are loading from (the internal HD is zero, the xip drive is selectable on the zip itself.

How would I do the upgrade with an emax HD? I saw one on ebay and I am considering buying it. Thanks for your help, Angelo

Re;External Zip Drive

I recently purchased an Omega 100 zip drive on ebay in hopes of
upgraing my emax 1000 with an SCSI port. However, I discovered that
an upgrade kit is no longer available. Is the emax 2 the only emax
with a pre-existing SCSI port? What are the advantages to having a
zip drive and is there a large library of sounds available in this
format? Thanx for future info- Angelo

If you have an EMAX HD you can do the upgrade.

It's just great for storage, you can download the presets from many sites online and put them on floppy and load them into the emax, then save on zip.

Get out your drill, or better yet, get one of those metal punching tools with the Scsi D-sub connector shape, punch a hole in the back of the emax with it, and install the connector there.

If you still have the dead HD SE, you might want to use the front panel from it on your new upgraded one, since it will have all the accurate panel graphics for the Plus OS.
