Upgrade v2.01 of EMXP - Emulator III support...

2007-02-04 by esynthesist

Hi all

There's a "small" upgrade available of the free EMXP software.
Besides full Emu EMAX support and some Akai S1000 features, this
upgraded v2.01 now also includes some limited support for Emulator III
(X).

Emulator III-functions in EMXP v2.01 are:

- Copy Emulator III and Emulator IIIX banks from/to Emulator III
removable harddisks (like ZIP).
Reading from Emulator III CD-ROMs is also supported of course.

- Backup/restore Emulator III (and IIIX) harddisks/CD-ROMs (for
restoring CD-ROMs you'll need a CD burning software)

- Convert Emulator III (and IIIX) samples to WAV files.

- Convert WAV files to Emulator III banks, which then can be copied
to e.g. an Emulator III ZIP disk.

Of course reading Emulator III disks is already supported by some
commercial software,
but I think the *WAV->EmuIII* and *disk-write* support of EMXP may be
useful for some Emulator III users...
The next step is more important however: conversion between EmuIII
and Emax and even Emulator II.
(That's for later, unless some commercial vendor will finally also
provide this kind of more advanced support for Emu samplers:-) )

The software can be found in the files section:
  http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/emax/files/EMXP/

or on the EMXP homepage:
  http://users.skynet.be/emxp/

Note that I performed only limited tests with v2.01. And I only
tested EmuIII support on an EIIIXS sampler, not on the original one.

Near future plans:
- For EMAX/EMUIII samplers I will try to add the ability to create CD
ISO images from scratch.
This should also work for ZIP-disks of course. We'll see...
- Conversion from AKAI S1000 to EMAX
- More advanced WAV support

In parallel I'm also working on Emulator II support !
The focus is on conversion between Emax/EmuIII/WAV files and Emulator
II SoundDesigner files.

Have fun & let the Vintage Emu Samplers live forever
