emax scsi part

2007-05-06 by allenre1979

i have an emax ii in which the zilog 5380 chip that controls the scsi
has failed. does anyone know where i might obtain this part, aside
from gutting another emax? i believe it may have been used in some
scsi controllers for PCs around the time that the emax was produced,
but i'm not sure which ones, and scouring the net didn't turn up any
information about what scsi controllers might have a zilog 5380.

hey '79,

I sourced mine from a dead Mac Plus motherboard. Hope
you're fond of desoldering. What makes you believe the
Zilog's dead? [w]

I got 3 for $25 from a distributor- went through globalspec. The
important thing to note is it is a 5380, NCR made it, it was copied
by AMD, as well as zilog, and National Semiconductor too....

If you can't find an old mac, you may find a chip new...old stock
somewhere.

Just a thought....

Dead Emax Rack

2007-05-11 by ted Summers

Does anyone know what 7 flashes of the module lights and no display
means?

I have a Rack unit that is doing this. Thank goodness my keyboard is
in perfect running order....just thought it might be nice to have
this running as well. Bought off ebay for $40 "as is" presumably
dead. It had SCSI, my keyboard didn't. So the keyboard inherited the
SCSI. :-)

Regards,
Ted

zilog/amd/ncr 5380 scsi control chip for my emax's scsi drive, without any
luck. i haven't been able to find ant suppliers either. does anyone have a
chip they would be willing to sell me?? please?
