Looking for this scary sample

Looking for this scary sample

2007-09-03 by Richard

I am looking for a Emax/Emaxll FX sample that was realy good, I think
it was in the ZD series it was a scary whisper sample that did a stereo
pan as the whispering voice said strange things. It's not the Jason 13
sample or the Hell samples, if anyone knows the ZD disc number or the
name let me know.

reminds me of the introsound on "something to do" opening track on depeche mode's album "some great reward" from 1984, orginally an Emulator2 sample i think ??but prolly isn't ?

  cheers all!

I know the song well but that's not it, I think the first time I ran into this sample was downloading all the ZD files from Diegos old site. Somehow this sample has something to do horror FX.

Re: SV: [emax] Looking for this scary sample

2007-09-04 by Julian

I'm pretty sure I downed all the ZD samples available, years ago... but
I didn't really end up going through many of them, because I'm not much
of a user of preset samples (tend to go to synths for instruments, and
tend to do my own sampling of random noises, drums, etc....) But this
one sounds like a fun one to load up. I'll try to have a look through my
collection tonight, and see what I can see in the realms of horror/fx
disk titles....

....so are the banks not up anymore???
and if so, is it for a legal reason or a bandwidth one?

surely we could find a few hundred megabytes of online space to put them
back up again somewhere, if they're down?

All the content from Diego's site is now on Hermann Seib's site:

http://www.seib.synth.net/emax/banks.htm

There are still banks missing from the collection. If anyone has time to
convert their old floppies to .EM1 files to contribute, please do!

Yes...the samples are still up but I think someone else is running the site, If your interested I have quite a few horror samples but this one I am looking for is really good.

I am in the process now of going through the Emax CDs but haven't found this sample yet.

If there is anyway to link the ZD disc number to the samples on the Emax CDs I could complete the missing discs on the site as I have CDs 1,2,3 and 4 and Emax FX 1 and 2.

Re: Looking for this scary sample

2007-09-04 by Chip

man, don't give up, is in the ZD banks... 2 or 3 days ago i was copying
random banks and I played that preset on my Emax 1, but i can't
remember wich one of the ZD contains that preset.

Today i was looking for it, but reading a floppy in the Emax is SLOW,
so we have to be be patient.

cheers

I had gone through my disks a couple of months back and thought I
knew this sample you are talking about.

I think I have found the disk. I cannot be sure of the ZD#, as this
is not an original Emax disk, but it is labeled:

Atmospheres #804

There is some voices on Preset 00 (about halfway down the keyboard),
and another preset named "Whisper Chant"

Hope that helps, guys!

That's it!!!! it is the whisper chant preset, it was on the Emax CDR #1
Thanks guys this is the perfect sample to play this Halloween!
I am going to take a look at the sample disc site and see if I can match up ZD disc numbers with the preset names on the CDRs, if this works I can upload all the missing samples and provide replacements for the known bad files. Agian if anyone has a conversion doc from ZD#discs to Emax CDRs let me know.

Re: SV: [emax] Looking for this scary sample

2007-09-06 by Richard

I have just discovered that the sample discs site has the ZD# listed
with the CD# as well. I checked each preset with the CD listings and
all the samples match up, now If I can get EMX XP working and the
site has a valid owner I can send in all the missing presets.

My only issue now is that I can't seem to get a reg code from Omni
flop for the EMX XP software, No email back from them...any ideas?

Re: SV: [emax] Looking for this scary sample

2007-09-06 by esynthesist

That's strange, since the registration for both EMAX support and EMXP
support are 100% automated at sherlock's omniflop site.
So even if Jason is on a holiday, it should work... except if his
server is down of course :)

But anyway: for the amazing objective of completing the factory banks
library, I don't think you need that registration, do you ?
The registration is only required if you need to access floppy disks.
But you have CD's. EMXP can handle CD's without omniflop license.

Or do you actually need floppy access ?

Well I guess I don't need the reg for the Emax ll/CD drive, it's just the EMX XP software said to install it first and I would like to get the whole CD #1 on floppys for my old Emax...using the Emax ll now:)

OK.
By the way: you can e-mail Jason from OmniFlop if you have problems
with getting a license. His contact information can be found in the
OmniFlop wizard (in the "about/donate" button). He always helped me
out very quickly whenever I had a problem.
