Emax

Hi all..I'm the owner of an EMAX II, that I recently purchased. I 
have an 2.2 gig Orb external removable hard drive, and I was 
wondering if I could connect it to the EMAX via the SCSI port, and 
store samples on it, since my EMAX doesn't have an internal hard 
drive. Would this work? Would I F-up my EMAX if I tried it? Any 
advice would be appreciated.

Hi,
You can connect it without causing any damage, but the Emax II formats up to
a maximum of 540MB and the Emax II is unlikely to even recognise an ORB - so
it won't work. The Emax II SCSI implementation is circa 1989 so only older
devices work properly. Try an old SCSI hard drive (there is a guy on ebay
who sells them at a good price loaded with samples) or better still an
external SCSI ZIP100/250. There are some nice sample CDROM's still available
from Northstar and QUpArts, they will make a big improvement.
