ext hard drive

Does the EmaxII need the internal hard drive set up before it will
look at an external drive? I installed 2 different drives (external)
after removing the dead hard drive and it says it cant find scsi 1 or
2 on if I change the address of the external drive. thanks

The EMAXII doesn't need an internal drive before it can read an external
one. Without any hard drive connected you will need an EMAXII formatted
floppy in the machine. The EMAX will then boot from the floppy by default.
Under MASTER 9 / Special, section 6 you can change the SCSI boot ID to
whatever your external SCSI IDs are set to. Before using the new drives you
will need to format them first. This is function is under MASTER 5. If you
need the manual you can dowload it as a PDF from www.emulatorarchive.com
under the EMAXII section.

Hope this helps
Steve

Nope, go into the Select Boot Drive feature and specify the ID of the drive you do want it
to boot from. It's probably set to SCSI ID 1 and you need to set it to a device number
you are now using.

Hi John did all that..says scsi 1 not found..tried
all up to 7 I have the emax open now checking
connections and they seem good..Its almost like its
not getting past the scsi port..I can disconnect the
cable from the drive and get the same error..Im about
to give up and just use the floppy drive as much as I
hate to and send the drive back

Does the Emax even recognize the drive? Even unformatted it would show up in the list
if SCSI devices. If it isn't being seen at all than the issue is that you have a drive that
isn't compatible with the Emax II.
