Emax II cooling

Emax II cooling

2009-10-31 by Daniel Baum

Hi all,

My Emax II keyboard seems to have no cooling system at all. No fan, not even a grill.

It gets fairly hot - not in the "you can fry an egg on it" league, but quite warm, mostly over the power supply on the panel with the lettering. Considering that there's a whacking great power supply in there with no cooling system, this seems unavoidable.

Is this how it is supposed to be? Did they get that warm when they were new?

Tks,

D.

My Emax 1 does this also. I have thought about building a cooling mod
with its own power to avoid putting stress on the Emax Power supply.
But at this time its purely a thought and no research done into making
it.... yet.

Regards,
Ted

yes they did get that warm but some componants need to work at 30-50 oc to perform properly and most run upto 80oc and the military grade ones run upto 120-140 oc

the only things that die from excessive heat are capacitors but the lowest grade caps run upto 80oc for 10000 hours at this constant temp
