Subject: [emax] cubase/emax

Hello
i'll be more specific: i can't find the way to download a sequence from
cubase to emax. i turn supermode on, choose midi clock, select the tracks
and each preset
(actually the same preset for all the tracks) and put them on "record". i
start to think that the problem could be in the cubase configuration.
any idea anybody?
thanks in advance
daniel

I've downloaded dozens of song sequences via midi to Emax or Emax II with Cakewalk. I see no reason it shouldn't work with Cubase if you can play other sound modules out the midi port. The way I do it is to directly connect the midi output of the computer to the midi in of the Emax (II). I also connect the midi out of the Emax (II) to midi in of the computer. In Cubase there must be a way to set the midi clock to midi we want to use the clock on the Emax (II). I'll start with a template that has supermode turned on and The correct midi setup needed for the Emax. In globals Emax must be set to internal clock. In the preset you must enable Midi out (not thru) Poly mode and Midi Channel 1 is OK, and set midi start/stop to on. Remember to enable record for each Midi track you want to record (16 channels max) Press play on the computer (Cubase) it should be waiting for a start signal from the external midi source in our case the Emax.) Press record on the Emax it takes a little time to settle then press play. You should be recording your sequence into the Emax. at the end of the sequence you'll have to hit stop on the Emax as it will go on probably more than you need for the sequence. Map out your presets to record channels, set your playing tempo, turn supermode off, set all tracks to play "p" when you turn supermode off there will be only 1 channel set to record. Don't forget to save your work to disk.

Note: In sequence mode I find Emax takes time to load modules wheather it be HD or floppy based and by the time Emax gets ready to receive midi the external sequencer is already past that point so setting midi clock on Emax don't work for me.

I hope I have helpped and not hindered.
