Emax 2 model number 2213 Help required.

2010-12-23 by Piers Dent

Hi Emax group.
I am new to the group and in need of a little assistance.
I have an Emax 2 model number 2213 and I have it listed on Ebay at the moment.
I have lost the Boot disc in a house move and am consequently having trouble booting up the machine.
It has been a while since I used it and I have forgotten how!
I have a DAC 4000 removable cartridge system which is attached to the Emax by SCSI cable.
When I power up the Emax (having turned on the DAC already) the Emax cycles through the following:
Checking floppy.........(No disc in there so nothing happens)
Checking SCSI 1 (it takes a longish look here......)
then it scrolls through checking SCSI 2 to 7 and then back to checking SCSI 1and round again infinitely.
I don't think the DAC has an OS on it, just sounds as I remember.
I dont have a boot up disc and I am wondering if this is why I cannot get in to see how much memory is in there - which is what I have of course been asked on Ebay......
Is there anywhere that I can download an OS onto floppy to get the thing booted? I have found a site in the States which can send me one.....but with the poor weather, Christmas rush and the Auction running on............
I would rather not cancel the auction and disappoint people, but if the machine is faulty then I need to.
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks..
Yours in ignorant anticipation..........

Piers

Hi Piers

You should be able to find the Emax II OS in the files section of this group. With this image, you should be able write to a floppy using EMXP. Which is a free download utility from http://www.emxp.net/
The software requires a windows machine with a floppy drive.
the 2213 is a basic 2mb Rack model (unless it has been expanded)

hope this helps

Simon
