Re: Creating a floppy disk for EMU E-max

2011-07-17 by esynthesist

The error you receive (104/4) is normal, because there is no valid bank on the floppy disk yet. The disk is still only "low level" formatted and containing only an OS, not a bank.

When going into EMXP menu sequence 1->7->1 ("manage banks on floppy disk") you want to get access to banks, but they are not available yet on the disk (=subcode 4).

Just like you copied the OS to the disk - where you had to go to menu 1->4->1 to select first the OS file and only thereafter selected where you wanted to copy the OS to - you now have to go to the EMX files via 1->2->3 to select the EMX file you want to copy to the floppy disk.

(Note that you will need .EM1 files (=so called emx-files), not .EB1 files (=so called bank-files). If you don't have the .EM1 version of the banks yet, first convert the .EB1 files to .EM1 files via menu 1->1->1)

Good luck

You mean "" 80/2/10x512 E-mu EIII 800kb "

cause there is no "80/2/10x512 E-mu EII 800kb" format !!!

I did everything

I copied the OS in the floppy disks and it's there the EMAX recognize it but
it gives me an error when I try to copy sound banks on the floppy (error
104)

Can anyone tell me what can be the reason for this ???

I tried the different format with OMNIFLOP and keep getting the same error !

Thanks again

I'm curious - why would one use a separate application to format the
disks? I format directly in EMXP and have had no problems - I think it
uses the Omniflop driver. You have to install that I recall.
