Group OLED Buy- WHITE IS FULL, if you want YELLOW respond now.

Group OLED Buy- WHITE IS FULL, if you want YELLOW respond now.

2012-09-30 by Ted Summers

It seems there is some confusion and Jammie has been trying to clear it up.
But also, some are saying get me a white, or a yellow may be OK.

i have quite a few mails...

So here are the key points:
1) My replacement is supposed to be a DROP IN replacement- no hard wiring, etc.
Part a-- I am CONFIRMING WITH THE MFR REP these will be correct drop ins before placing this order.
Part b -- I am also confirming that they will let me buy 20 WHITE and 20 YELLOW, not just a total of 20 displays.

2) Assuming #1 is correct and the part a is right-

These people were the first responders and get the WHITE OLED...
MYSELF
James R (he instigated this after all)
Leland
Chase
Daniel Baum
Wolfram
dwv1957

I intend to collect money as this order is gonna cost $$$$…. I am going by the numbers people wanted.

IF you want a YELLOW DROP IN REPLACEMENT.. respond to this email and I will make the list.

I will only order yellow if I get 10 or more requests and part b is a GO.
I don't know if they would make me the yellow if there are less than 10.

Hope that clears things up.

And as Jammie has said- you can always get yellow and hard wire it from the straight connection…. I just wanted to get some that were easier to deal with.

Regards,
Ted

Re: [emax] Group OLED Buy- WHITE IS FULL, if you want YELLOW respond now.

2012-09-30 by Nik Kinloch

Gosh, this is a feeding frenzy :-)

Good healthy active group though.

Sorry for my misinformation previously regarding the Rapid displays, I
didn't realise they had got different pin outs. Strange they have
changed that, or that the yellow was available in a different format for
a while.

I noticed that the red ones there don't have a data sheet... don't
suppose there is an outside chance that they are the double side header
version?

I don't imagine it is that big a deal to solder the on top connections
to the side, if you are ok with soldering and reading pin outs? I
suppose it is fiddly and more messy than the matching side version
though... also, the side version mechanically supports the display in place.

Another way to do it would be to somehow get or make the version of the
circuit board that is part of the display that has the side connectors,
and just solder on the LED display itself.

FWIW, I like my yellow version just fine. it is easy to read, not tiring
to look at, clear and bright, and is close to the same colour as the
slim floppy LED.

2012-09-30 by Nigel Cruickshank

Sure, Sorry about that... I did understand that white was full – I was not sure if Ted had managed to extend his order.

Put a new backlight in my SE HD rack today so that should be okay for a while!

If anyone backs out of a white order then count me in.
