MACs compatible with the Emax

MACs compatible with the Emax

2012-10-20 by freddy1771994

Hi,
I've got a simple question:

Which MAC computers are compatible with the Emax.
I own an Emax 1 Plus and an Emax 2 Turbo and looking for a working mac-emax setup with Sound designer 2.
Thanks to jammie I already know that the mac se, classic IIci, classic IIsi will work, but which other macs will work. What do I have to mind as well?

Maybe we could create a list here and later in the database that will easily help other users.

Thank you very much!
Freddy

os7 max

if using sounddesigner for emax

the emax rs422 cable to mac interface

a zip drive as the sounddesigner for emax is a external hdrive image made to be used on a zip 100 scsi drive

wont work on an internal or cdrom image

dont know about the mac classic range

but the macII/SI/CI most nubus slot macs thats the quadra range

the pci range wont work as they need os8 minimum

Actually- anything pre-Beige G3 should work.
Beige G3 was MacOS8 and while I got Alchemy working on it, not sure that it
was stable (don't recall).

I had a 6214CD that worked (until it started behaving erractically,
generally).
I have just got a 7300 and that should work as well, but will confirm it.

The 7300/7500/7600 all have the same motherboard.

They have PCI slots, but minimum OS is 7.5- so should work fine.

Will confirm it hopefully later this week.

Keep in mind that some models of Mac are just generally poor models (like
the 6200, 5200, etc).

For more information on what Mac models are decent, I recommend you go to
LowEndMac.com
They say what the specs of different Macs are, and if they are decent or
have shortcomings.

Thanks,
Ted
