not really the whole point in having a cf card

with the pcd-50b is its hot swappable so that you can have many cards of
library to choose from

as there are from the EII 500 banks

and only 35 on 1 hd

plus the monster cf card drive is not hot swappable

Re: [emax] Re: PCD-50B alternative

32mb max really for a emax1

512mb or 1gb for a emax2

emax 2 has max 100 banks so if you have a 8mb machine then the max hd space
used is 800mb

if you have a 2mb machine max used for a 2mb bank is 200mb

if you have a 1mb machine then max is 100mb

and 4mb its 400mb

so there is nopoint than having bigger cards for smax2 unless you have the
8mb machine

theres no point in having bigger than 32mb for emax 1

as it can only format 20mb

I haven't tested it.
That is a recurring question in my mind if one would work or not... but
haven't had one....

Re: [emax] Re: PCD-50B alternative

2012-12-21 by jammie

they have been given the read and write firmware

but as of yet have not been tested with the emax

as they are made by the same manufacturer

they are 6 slot lun drives so the pcmcia slot is the only one that works
like the pcd-50b

there are loads of pcd-60b surplus nos drives

available
and some people are selling them as kits that are twice the cost of buying
your self

there is a surplus company on ebay that are selling them for $100 they are
the cheapest as of yet

and they have a few hundred drives they wont last long

as mechware had 400 drives in november for the pcd-50b and was sold out by
the second week of december

Maybe I can try it and sell it if it does not work, but I have the feeling the bezel is too big from looking at it.
