I am having an issue with trying to assign outputs in my presets. Whenever I set the output to anything but the stereo out, I have to hit the key twice to get the sample to play. Is there something I am doing wrong, or is my Emax flaky...

What outputs are you listening to when this happens? What Emax are you using?
