emax ii 2201 (emax 2) - zip 100 verifying forever cannot format zip 100 scsi everything works until verifying... forever and zip drive access light stays lit have tried: using 5 terminator on, 5 terminator off on both scsi and zip logo ports. i am not trying to use additional devices in the scsi chain at this time. is this indication of a bad drive or bad disk? Hi Matt, I use a zip drive with it's terminator switch. Try another disk. Which port on the zip drive do u use? Scsi logo or zip? Do u use it terminate switch on? Does it work on 5 and on 6? Which end of the cable goes to the zip and which to the sampler? Cable says zip on one side, scsi logo on other side. My problem is that all my stuff is packed into a storage until the end of July and I am currently living in hell (in-law's basement)... But I'll do my best by memory... check my answers below. So you connect the cable from Zip logo to the Emax scsi port. > Do u use it terminate switch on? The Emax does not care which address you use, 5 or 6, termination should be ON. The Emax will format the disk in a few seconds, but it can take up to an hour to verify the disk, so don't be in a hurry. It sounds like everything is working fine on your end, you are just not giving it enough time. Dave --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Matt <somatt@...> wrote:

Thanks following your advice I was able to get it to work. I just gave it time to verify and all was well. -matt On Jun 28, 2013 8:03 PM, "dwv1957" <dwv1957@...> wrote: > ** > > > The Emax does not care which address you use, 5 or 6, termination should > be ON. > The Emax will format the disk in a few seconds, but it can take up to an > hour to verify the disk, so don't be in a hurry. > It sounds like everything is working fine on your end, you are just not > giving it enough time. > > Dave > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Matt <somatt@...> wrote: > > > > emax ii 2201 (emax 2) - zip 100 verifying forever > > cannot format zip 100 scsi > > everything works until verifying... forever and zip drive access light > > stays lit > > have tried: using 5 terminator on, 5 terminator off on both scsi and zip > > logo ports. i am not trying to use additional devices in the scsi chain > at > > this time. > > is this indication of a bad drive or bad disk? > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
