Emu Emax II Issue

Emu Emax II Issue

2013-08-16 by Patrick

Hi,

I just purchased an emax II and every time I try to turn it on every single led constantly blinks and the machine makes a constant clicking noise. Anyone know what this could mean?

Yes- Power supply is bad or bad connection at the connector of PS or power switch itself.

Don't let this go with power on too long- you could permanently damage the logic board as each "on" is coming through as a surge, most likely.

EPR Electronics sells direct replacement PS. Google them

Is it an HD model or floppy only model?

Daeron-

Either the control board on the HD was bad, causing a drain on the power supply, or your power supply is weak and nearing end of it's life.

did you try and hook some other hard drive to the power supply to see if it was the same behavior?
If so- I would still replace that power supply.as it is running on borrowed time. :-(

I had read that Mendelsons in Dayton Ohio had the power supply for an Emax II. I live about 45 minutes away from there and they buy over stock, electronic components and old computer parts from companies that went under. The warehouse is 4 stories and you can walk around and look through the bins. Place has everything including and Web site so you can order on line. If It hard to find or just something you look at and say "who would want that?"they have it.
