Hi Mike,

That's how I run my emusic-wdiy list.  All new members must be approved by the
list owner (me).  Since nobody follows instructions by sending me private email
to let me know they have applied for membership and to tell me who they are, I
always have to take the extra step of writing to unknown parties to ask them to
identify themselves.  Those who *do* I.D. themselves, get approved.  Those who
don't answer me are spammers and don't get approved.  I'd recommend getting a
separate email account for this purpose as spammers have latched on to my real
email address this way (and others).  In some cases, I know who the applicant is
by their e-address and approve them immediately.  But that's a rare case.
