Sequencing an EML-101

Sequencing an EML-101

2008-05-09 by mfretton

OK I've scoured these posts (& those on Analogue Heaven & elsewhere) and it seems that
the best way (the only way?) to control an EML-101 properly from a CV/gate sequencer is
via the keyboard socket, as the external control jacks only control two of the VCOs.

Unfortunately I've not found a conclusive/definitive way of doing this, partly because there
appear to be variations on the keyboard socket & wiring (mine is an odd 5-pin reminiscent
of a DIN plug). I don't wish to be able to play the 101 when it's being sequenced, so ideally
would plug the sequencer into the keyboard socket - what are these plugs/sockets called?

I know that the EML-101 is 1.v/octave although I'd think that a CV sequencer like the
Korg SQ-10 would work fine, since each note is set manually.

So...how do I do it?

Matt

PS of course in a perfect world I'd buy the 400/401 if:
a. I could find them
b. I could afford them

An EML 400 won t solve your problems unless you want to modify your 101. The best bet for sequencing a 101 is a Kenton MIDI / CV converter...

...but where would I plug the Kenton into the 101? If you use the
jacks at the top left, you can only control two oscilators, hence my
interest in using the Keyboard socket.

Oh & I didn't mean that the 400 would sequence the 101, just that if I
had the 400/401 I wouldn't need to sequence the 101!

Ah... I see your problem. Not sure how you d access KB1 and KB2. You re probably right on your keyboard jack mod theory...
