Re: Sampling Noise Problem?

2012-09-13 by ataritt

Check the 1 and 10 Uf capacitors in the anti-aliasing filter.
Probably consists of a series of op-amp IC's and a bunch of those cap's.

First look for oxydation of the capacitor legs or the circuitboard underneath.

good luck

The other gain settings have significantly louder noise floors.  Most people who want a low noise floor in their samples use an external preamp and keep the gain setting at 0.  However, the higher noise floors can sound kind of cool, too, for certain types of sounds.

I cannot raise the gain to 20 or 40 without major amounts of noise. The sample itself is of good quality, volume level is nearly maxed out on the meter but I seem to also hear a bit of a mechanical sound in the background of the sample when the sample gets to low volume. When I play E-mu disks the background noise is much lower and there are no mechanical noises so it seems to be a problem with sampling only. I also have an MPC 60 and sampling on that is working perfectly so I do think it is a problem with the E-mu and not my overall setup. thanks for any help...
