No, I didn't actually say that Apple Loops works like Phatmatik. I said 
that I used to use Phatmatik a lot before Apple Loops.

I used it because it was a way of getting an audiofile to play at 
different tempos. It slices loops whereas as Apple Loops timestretches 
them, but it got the same results for my purposes.

I also used to use Acid Pro and Ableton Live for timestretching.
