Re: [gsp-2101] Tube replacement / substitution ??

IE's are the best 12ax7. You want a warm sound, it warms up the inherent brightness of the unit. Yup, they are the best. Presumptuouis enough? For roughly 10.00 a tube, he can afford to take my advice.

Wow that's a pretty presumptuous statement.
Best in what way? For what type of music? For what type of sound?
You can't say it's the "best tube for the 2101" you have no idea what the guy's looking for.
Best bet is to try a bunch out for yourself & see what fits your style of playing. As you've found, there
are lots of discussions on this subject to get you headed in the right direction (for you that is).
Have fun experimenting! :-)

Go with Ei tubes, 12ax7's from Yugoslavia, they are the best for the 2101.

Hello,

I currently own 3 2101's and I want to start to experiment with
different tubes. I understand which distortions V1 and V2 coordinate
with but I would like to try some different value tubes. But before I
do I wanted to check with the memebers here.

Will the 2101 accept a 12AT7, 12AY7 or possibly a 6201 without damaging
it?

With that said... what is the current mindset with replacing the
12AX7s with NOS 12AX7s?

Thank you.
