Regarding upgrading your 2101 from EPROM 2.06.06 to 3.00.00 without losing your user presets, you can do this using MIDIWizard. MIDIWizard has a feature that translates version 2 compatible program (patch) files into version 3 compatibility.
First, do a System Backup of your 2101 while the old EPROM is installed. Then install the new EPROM. Next, use MIDIWizard's feature that creates a set of program files from the system backup file you just created - this is the "Create Program Syx" feature under the System Options menu.
Finally, you restore each of your program files to your new 2101. You can even decide where to put each user program should you want to take this opportunity to rearrange your user programs. Even though version 2 system backups are not compatible with version 3 EPROMs, MIDIWizard translates the user programs that are embedded in the system backup file so you don't have to lose your user programs when you upgrade your EPROM.
Hope this helps,
Graham
