Well, I spent some time playing with the Genedit software...

Firsy off, I have to say the you can't really appreciate the 'warp' features
of the Genesis3 without using the Genedit software. In the software in stead
of a knob that 'warps' the cabs or amps you get a square with a cab on the
left and right ( with the a knob to tune that cabs resonant frequency and a
drop down menu to select the cab you want ) and the amps on the top and
bottom. As you move the marker in the center square up and down you 'warp'
between amps and left to right 'warps' the cabinets. Being able to do both
at once like this really demonstrates the amazing mixes of the two you can
get. Another VERY cool feature is that using the Genedit software you can
change the frequency of the bass, mid or treble knobs!! Face it, a Marshall
JCM 800 may sound cool, but it couldn't hurt to have more control over the
frequency that Mid knob tweaks... Definitely some cool shit! As for the
clean tones... I think they are remarkable! The 2101 was very thin for the
most part. Presets on the Genesis3 like Bassmn and Voxtop on the clean
channel have great clean tone. I can even get them Stevie Ray Vaughn
overdrives and them funky country clean tones that sound like a cranked
Matchless 1x12. The Genesis3 totally kicks ass. I'd like to mention also
that I'm using a Music Man Silhouette with a Floyd and EMG's 85/SA/SA and I
can get great dynamics with them. I imagine a nice PAF Pro or Air Norton
would be prety sweet too. As for the Genedit software and hooking up the
Genesis3. That was a piece of cake too. I bought one of them $20 gameport to
MIDI cables, plugged it into the MIDI jacks on the Genesis3 and launched the
Genedit software. The Genedit software automatically found the Genesis and
even let me update the O/S on the Genesis3. The latter was a good thing
because when my Genesis3 would get hot sometimes effects would switch on by
themselves... This was a known bug according to Digitech and it hasn't
happened since I updated the O/S which Digitech said would fix it. I love
this thing! I just wish I could focus on one cool sound at a time long
enough to finish a whole song. : )

PS - I do have one complaint... without the Control X there doesn't seem to
be any way to use the wah in the Genesis3. There are LFO's I'd love to link
to it but there doesn't seem to be a way. This sucks because using my PC's
mouse to move the 'pedal' and just doing some right-hand trill's and taps
the wah sounds VERY natural and really smooth. It doesn't sound fake at all.
I used to have a Dunlop Crybaby 535 so I know what a wah pedal should sound
like... If you ever tried the one in the 2101, this ain't that. The one in
the 2101 plain sucks in my opinion. Anyway, as soon as I figure out a way to
use the wah some other way I'll let you know...

Luca, List,

    I own a 2101 and a Genesis3. In response to your email I just spent a
few mintues messing with the Genesis3 trying to simulate the Auto-Swell
preset of the 2101. I just discovered that the Chorus/Mod effect adds a
third pitch shifter... I'm using the Whammy with a +5th and +Octave and the
Chorus/Mod on Pitch with a -9th. Pretty damn bad-ass!!! ( That means good )
Throw in the Reverb, Delay and a panner or something and you're set... My
only complaint is that the Gate doesn't seem to allow you to do really
slooooooooooooow swells like I recall the 2101 doing but it's enough... This
may be further adjustable using the Genedit software but I haven't tried
that yet. As many of you know already, I love this little Genesis3. I write
and record alot with it and the guitar tones always sound really good. I'd
still rather have Rick Rubin hookin me up in the studio but that'll probably
never happen. I would use my Genesis3 live if my TriAxis and my 2101 were
both dead. I have no doubt it'd sound great. I wish I could afford the
footcontroller because it'd make for some really sweet real-time CC stuff.
Well, if any of you have more questions or want some comparisons let me
know. I try to be as objective as I can. See ya....
