Just to add my two cents! I recently considered supplementing/replacing the pre-amp stage of my 2101 with a ADA MP1 Classic ( since I was not entirely happy with the tone. That is I could not get some of the sounds I get out of my Marshall 9001 pre-amp (non midi) from the 2101. Luckily before I committed to the ADA, I figured it was worth playing around with the valve tubes, so I replaced the ones in the 2101 (Groove tubes matched pair) with the ones in the Marshall and (BINGO!) there was the tone I was after! Since then I have been replicating the sounds I get from the Marshall on the 2101 with great success. The only one I am having trouble with is one where I have used the 9001 eq stage to boost the bottom end for a really heavily distorted crunch metal rhythm, so far I have not managed to get that really dark bottom, end fuzzy bass out of the 2101 (Sounds a bit to bright and clean!). Still I'm waiting for a selection of new tubes I ordered to arrive
so I can play around some more and I am reasonably confident I will get what I need out of the 2101 without having to add to my rig! At that stage Marshall 9001 will end up on e-bay! So the moral of the story is, it's there if you have the patience to work with the 2101!
BTW has anybody any info on the 'Blue Dream Mods' that Dieter mentions on his website?

Hey Jim,
I have no feedback at painful volumes. If I loosen up the gate I can have controlled feedback. Note I use a EMG81. Try setting your gate at ATTACK 0, RELEASE 0, ATTENUATION 66, DELAY TIME 0. Play with the ATTENUATION for your pickups to work best.
Now for Gary,
You added a external15band DOD EQ? I must ask why you didn't add a 15 band EQ to your algorithm?
Hey Bob,
My bass player let me jam through a VooDoo valve. It had that Paul Gilbert high end twag to it. I'm looking more for a Dann Huff type lead tone and Tora Tora (Walkin Shoes) insane crunch rhythm. I must say I still don't know how Nuno got the ADA MP1 and a Boss pedal to get that Pornograffitti tone??? I bought all that shit , Bill Lawrance XL pickup, pedal, ADA and NO LUCK. I'm sure some one will say its Nuno's hands but I beg to differ. Listen to Three Sides to every Story when he switched to Soldano amps. I didn't like the tone near as much. I can get damn close on the 2101. That's way the 2101 still rules in my book.

i had a triaxis and a boogie 2/90? and i thought it sucked! (sorry boogie diehards)and im a major boogie fan(especially the rectifiers!) best combo i've tried so far is a 2101 and a marshall 9200 tried 2101 with carvin t100 and wasn't as good but usable lol! only major complaint i have on 2101 is uncontroled feedback(unless your 300ft away from amp) on distortion presets noise gate has to be set to high to eliminate problem then it doesn't allow me to have enough sustain or cuts notes/chords off to soon!

While we are bashing gear....... I just picked up a Marshall JMP-1 and a Vox Valvetronix 100 watt head to goof with in the studio. The vox was beyond loud and had very usable sounds strikingly close to what amps it simulates. Plus it has a power attinuator to get that cranked sound at lower volumes. The VOX was $310 used and kicked the JMP's butt! The JMP-1 did have one creamy lead tone where the tube distortion was smooth and shredable. How ever when I plugged back into the 2101 I put the JMP-1 on eBay. Next I need to try the Piranha and Triaxis. Nothing I prefer better than the 2101 so far..... Anyone have the new 1101? I would imagine Harmon would go cookie cutter over tone any day $$$.
Amps I have tried so far.....
Bogner Excstasy Useful (not worth $3900)
Peavey Rockmaster Metal!!!
Hughes & Kettner JCM800 again
Boogie Studio, Rectofier Good one trick pony
Marshall JCM800 and JMP-1 Useful
Randall RG75 Suprising depth
ADA MP-1 Useful
Sansamp GT2 Sterile
Digitech RP 6,7,12,20 and 2101's 2101 tops my list
Boss GT8 good all in one runner up
Fender Twin and Princton classic clean
VOX AD100VTH All your favorite amps strikingly simulated.
VHT Pittbull Hot rodded JCM with better EQ
J-Station Shrill but useful
