RE: [gsp-2101] Re: Stability issues

2008-10-25 by Glenn Warner 3rd

My bad, yes I have only a single sdisc. I put a pair of high gain JJ tubes in my 2101 and it sounds great for a preamp. The quality of my TC g-major effects are better in my opinion rather than the 2101. I just want to try and get the best signal to noise ratio on my 2101 preamp. Any suggestions? seems like my input meter barely shows much signal activity, but gives me good tone. Thanks!

Glenn

PPC stands for parallel processing card. You can only have one PPC in your 2101. If you have no PPC then you only have one SDISC processor.

Hi Graham,

Can you point me to a copy of the software? I have version 2.0 and only one PPC in my 2101 unit. Can you also tell me the best way to determine the best input/output signal to noise ratio for my unit? I am currently using my unit ONLY for the preamp and using my TC electronics G-Major for my effects. Thanks!

Best Regards,
Glenn

Nestor:
EPROM Version 3.00.00 is stable whether or not the PPC-210 is installed. The only possible issue is when owners upgrade to version 3.00.00 and forget to perform a factory preset. If you forget the factory preset, the unit does some real whacky stuff, especially when trying to use the MIDI interface.
I have two GSP-2101s, one with and one without the PPC-210. I used them to develop our GSP-2101 interface for MIDIWizard, which runs only under Windows. Because the MIDI interface is poorly documented, it took me about 400 hours to develop the GSP-2101 interface for MIDIWizard. I undertook this task while recuperating, so I had plenty of downtime to research the intricacies of the GSP-2101's MIDI interface.
If you want to embark on a completely new development from the ground up, you have my encouragement. But please use MIDIWizard as a barometer. I have over 300 copies of the GSP-2101 interface out there, and I have had no bug reports in the last 2 years.
I hope this gives you some perspective,

Hello again,
after upgrading the unit with a PPC-210 (bought from second hand
market , but it's a Dieter card) the issues seem to be corrected.
Perhaps the 3.00 firmware is not 100% stable without the PPC expansion
installed?

Anyway, thank you for the suggestions.
Greetings from Spain.

DigiTech has always been very reasonable about repairing their
discontinued products.
