A: If you execute a hard reset you will lose your presets! Execute these steps:
-
connect power cord
- switch off the unit
- switch on the unit WHILE pressing down the #1 function key
- an asterisk will appear next to "Digitech"
- release the #1 function key
- press (and release) the "program up" button
- The display should read "Resetting... Please wait..."
Stolen from a 2101 guru's website. Is this the reset procedure you used?

Subject: [gsp-2101] Re: EQ's not effective
Greetings M M, thank you for your reply. I failed to mention in my original post that I have executed a factory reset several times to be sure everything was initializing properly. When I first procured this unit, I opened it up for inspection and cleaned out some dust and a surprising amount of dog hair. It appears that the previous owner was not overly concerned about having his animals lounge about the studio. I did change the battery at that time as well as performing a cleaning and lubing of the volume pot and data wheel encoder. Subsequent to my original message, I have found a related topic here on the mailist (msg#'s 1867, 1868, and 1894) that references the author's analog EQ's being "out" and he mentions a chip that needed to be replaced, however no specific technical information or repair costs were provided. I may be experiencing this same issue and having surveyed the circuit boards, I suspect that IC chip number U57 (NJU7305) on the "EQ and output riser board" may be the culprit. Unfortunately, I do not have access to an oscilloscope to confirm this. Barring any other suggestions concerning this EQ problem, I will commission it for repair and hope that the parts are still available and reasonably priced. I would regret having to buy another unit for the sole purpose of cannibalization for parts. I will report back to the group when I receive the actual diagnoses and will bulletin the resolution in order to document this issue for other GSP-2101 owners in the future. Thankfully, it would seem that this is not an especially prevalent problem with these units as the issue would have surfaced frequently in the groups long before now. I appreciate any additional suggestions and thank all who take the time to reply.

> Hello group, I am a new member and I want to thank everyone for their contributions here on the list past and present. The information that is here is an invaluable resource for those of us that have only recently begun our journey into this wonder-box. My LE has kept me busy exploring and experimenting for the past two weeks and I am so amazed at the sounds I am beginning to produce. Now, as I have started trying to tailor my sound more with EQ settings, I have realized that I am not hearing any boosting or cutting of any of the frequencies I am trying to tweak. Neither the Global EQ or the FX GEQ modules seem to have any effect. Is there any known problems with these units that the community is aware of? Is there perhaps something I am doing wrong or do I need to see about getting it serviced? Has anyone had experience in this area that they could share? Any idea of what costs might be involved? Thank you, kind folks, for any information or suggestions that anyone can offer and although our units may be showing the signs of an aging icon, I am astonished at the sounds I am able to get with it so far. I am also grateful for this community and the people who take the time to respond.
