Ad the final stage, add a mixer. Route the input direct to one channel of the mixer and the output(s) from the last stage of the effects chain to the other input(s) of the mixer, then route the outputs to the left and right (assuming you're running a stereo patch) outputs. Assign a MIDI continuous controller to the value of the mixer inputs.
