I had the same problem with two different ones, and finally someone
explained that there is a switch in the front jack that disengages the rear
jack when a plug is in the front jack; as the metal in the jack assembly
loses its "spring" over time, the switch becomes permanently disengaged.
The main option is to replace the front jack, which requires a fair amount
of work. Because I don't use the front jack at all anymore, I've had
success so far with just pushing down on the metal strips in the jack to
make sure that there's a good connection.

i had the same problem after a a period of time,
the signal changed randomly
so i changed "back to the front" input.
but i think the front input serves
feedback from the guitar,
can that be?
