Mailist to discuss all issues regarding the Digitech GSP-2101 Guitar FX Processor

Refer to the manual pg 9, using a 5-pin MIDI cable should work if 
all 5 connections are connected at both ends, most are. MIDI only 
uses three, the other two pins power the control one. Connect it to 
the Foot Controller connector on the back of the GSP-2101, not the 
MIDI connector(s).
This may be why you are getting the hum.
Try again with a high quality MIDI cable to the footswitch 
connector, (NOT MIDI), and you should be OK.
