How To Upgrade the 1/4" Jacks on your GSP-2101

2014-08-28 by me@...

The jack sockets on my 20 year old GSP-2101 were beginning to be problematic. I decided to upgrade them with some REAN NYS216G sockets that I ordered from Mouser.com. These upgrades have gold-plated contacts, are dimensionally exact replacements, and have solved the problem beautifully.

To replace the jack sockets, you have to remove the motherboard from its chassis. I created a Microsoft Word document file that explains step-by-step how to do this and I uploaded this file to the FILES section of this discussion forum. However, this POS Yahoo web site is not allowing me to download the file.

If you are having the same problem and are interested in how to upgrade your jack sockets, or if you just need to know how to remove the motherboard from your GSP-2101, send me an email and I'll send you the file as an attachment.

I haven't gone up to the yahoo groups web site in so long that it now says that my account is deactivated and if I need to access the gsp-2101 group again, I need to create a new account and rejoin. And yet, I still get these digest emails. Lovely—no wonder so many people moved their groups to groups.google.com.

Moderator: if you can in any way re-activate my account so that I can see the files section, I would test download Graham's upload. Alternatively, you could always recreate this group in groups.google, but there probably isn't enough interest at this point.

Graham, go ahead and send me your word document as it seems the only way for me to get it right now. I don't need to work on my GSP-2101 yet, but I may have to.

20 years? Has it really been that long?

Graham,

I can confirm that your document can be read. Good tip on providing owners information inside the GSP 2101 in case it would be stolen.

Keep up the good work!
Marcel
