MIDIWizard - New Version Announcement

MIDIWizard - New Version Announcement

2016-03-25 by me@...

Here at White Horse Software, we've just released version 2.15 of MIDIWizard for the GSP-2101. MIDIWizard is a software application that interfaces with a variety of MIDI equipment and runs under any version of Microsoft Windows. Sorry, we don't have a Mac version.

For the GSP-2101, it provides a variety of features not available via the 2101's control panel. You'll find a brief description on eBay - just search for "MIDIWizard GSP-2101".

The major improvement over the previous version of MIDIWizard (version 1.52) is that all on-line help uses current Microsoft technology (HTML windows) and all features of MIDIWizard, including menu options, user input screens, parameter fields and controls have corresponding help. There are over 500 help windows and 120 illustrations.

We also fixed a couple of minor bugs that none of our users found!

If you want more detailed information, you an reach me at me@grahampearson.com.

I'd welcome any "non-biased" feedback, especially any constructive criticism. There are over 300 copies of MIDIWizard out there and we often don't hear anything from those who purchase our software.

Can anyone here besides Graham comment on the usefulness of this app? I'm just curious about normal user, non-biased reviews or comments.

I no longer own a GSP-2101 (Moved on to the 11 Rack), but when I did MIDIWizard was indispensable. It made the programming of the GSP-2101 more palatable for me (easier to adjust parameter on the screen then endlessly pushing buttons). I totally improved the process of generating new presets or editing existing ones. The only thing I ever wished for was real time changes on the GSP-2101, however I also understood that this was a limitation of the GSP-2101 and not the software. The reason I never gave any feedback was it just worked as advertised! :)
Hope this helps.

I purchased it a while back. It has been a while since I’ve used it so the specifics are fuzzy, but it worked well for me at the time. I was a satisfied customer.

You can make "real time" changes to existing user programs IF you have the latest version 3.00.00 of the chip-set. Earlier versions of the chip-set do not provide the appropriate MIDI commands for real-time editing.

The important feature not included in MIDIWizard is the construction of brand new algorithms, i.e. new configurations of effects. This is because the GSP-2101 doesn't provide a MIDI command for doing this. I wish it had.

MIDIWizard is indispensible for creating backups of single programs or your whole setup, modifying programs, and loading. For example, Dieter has a huge library of great programs that others have put a lot of time into, and MIDIWizard makes it easy to try out new sounds. MIDIWizard will even help you troubleshoot problems with your MIDI interface. Plus, the program is easy to use and greatly simplifies the complex range of choices in 2101 programming.

If you have a 2101, you really should get the software (and a USB to MIDI converter such as the Mio). Today.

Thanks all.

It certainly isn't priced too high, so I could have just taken the chance, but I wanted to hear if there were any common got'cha's and it looks like there is not. So I'll likely pick it up soon.

Is there a central site to browse through Dieter's and other folks patches? I also have a few of my own I can share if they're not already up there from the legacy sites.

Thanks again,
Chris

It`s nice to see 2101 still have some newer software. Happily our beast have a neat SysEx command set that rules the most of the internals, and using any SysEx sending software one can do lots of things.
I was unable to find MidiWizard or White Horse software with Google, any alive links demos or abadonware
pieces left.

Will be surely glad to test it to see if it has things I need.
I will love to have a patch librarian /archiver / organizer thats up to the date . I can dump/upload a bulk dump or a program or an algorithm with SysEx easily but having a comfortable tool is a great help.

Another thing I really want is an extended songlist patch switcher that just jumps through the patch list in given order so I just press List Up on stage and don`t worry. List events can be not only Program Change events but also an CC tweaks which is useful. Alas 2101`s 31-events long list isnt enough for a real stage usage, if you have 15+ songs with a couple of all different presets going in line (

Having all this on the Android tablet is another dream ;)
Thanks!
