upgrade to V3.o

upgrade to V3.o

2004-11-25 by whidbeymark

Hi all,

I've got a 2101LE v2.xx and want to upgrade. If I understand
correctly, since I already have the dual S disks, then upgrading the
LE to v3.0 would give me the equivalent of the Artist Pro and I
would have the ultimate GSP2101?

If I am correct, then I found v3.0 at
http://stores.ebay.com/function7-engineering

Is anybody familiar with them? Are they new chips? Anything else I
should know about upgrading?

Thanks in advance for your replies

I made this post earlier today and rather than get a response,
somebody bought the v3.00.00a eproms shortly after my post (for $17
and some odd cents). I guess I should not have posted where I found
them since they seem to have been bought out from under me. Now I
am unable to find another source.

Anybody know where I can find some more?

Ebay my friend, they are sold there by the same guy, at least one or
two per week. I guess there are still plenty of those chips
available, so don't worry.

Hi,

I find it simply amazing that they are still selling that many eproms several years after production ended. It says a lot about how many GSP2101's there are out there. Anybody know how many were produced?

Mark--you are right that the upgrade to 3.0 with the 2nd S-disc will give
you the ultimate. The eBay source is very reliable; I don't believe the
chips are brand new, but I have bought several things from Adrien and
they've all been excellent, and he's been very helpful after the sale.
Keep looking--I'm sure there'll be some more coming up on eBay.
