Well, I guess if we are gonna do this without trying out the unit itself, lets start with, " What sounds or styles of music you want to play ? ". I ask this because I'm not totally confident that the POD can pull off the perfect Rectifier ROAR. Even with the 2:90. If you want to spring for the Tri-Axis, that would be a real option. Perfect match for the 2:90. The 2:90 uses 6L6 tubes I think, so you will get a stronger punch than I get with my EL84 packed Peavey 50/50. You wattage alone will go a long way to better my Recto sound. I jam with my cousin and his Dual Recto half stack, and we have tried to copy his sound with my setup. It comes close, but I think it comes down to, "A Rectifier is a Rectifier. A POD and a 50/50, a Rectifier they do not make.". But a great sound of their own, and stereo to boot. He doesn't like his clean tone though. So here we go with the compromises again. He still plays through an old GSP 21 Legend sometimes. The 400 watt Carvin he runs it through kind off makes people think twice before they criticize his Legend pre-amp. It feels like a thousand Ninjas chucking razor blades at your ears. So shrill, (=@ It's good for a laugh though. 2nd question : What kind of money are we gonna through at this little pre-amp ? Is the Mesa Boogie Tri-Axis out of reach ? Are you located in France. I'm only guessing, because you address ends with .fr . I think Kittyhawk is out of Germany, and they made some great gear in the nineties. I sort of thought of there stuff as a sister to the Soldano stuff. They came pretty close. I haven't seen their stuff around town for years. I wonder if they're still in business. You can check out the Line6 site, www.line6.com , and look for sample mp3's. When you are there, look for the Line6 User sites. They have some good samples of the sounds they are getting from the POD. I can say that they do give you an idea of the sounds the POD can make, but it all depends on what quality of speakers you run your computer system through. And also what rig they are recording. Check out what artists are using the POD, POD Pro, and any of the Flextone amps. They all use the same amp models. The Flextones have less to choose from, but the very same algorithms. Keep in mind the recorded sound is always different from the actual, in your face, live sound. The musicians endless battle. "I want to capture and record that live sound. " and, " How do I get my stage setup to sound like the $200,000 studio recording ?". >So give us you musical tastes. >A budget to work with. >What other gear is close or available to you. I would buy it even just for home recording purposes, but I don't know if that has any value to you. How much is a POD going to cost you ? A POD and a Tri-Axis ? Now we're talkin'. And while you're there, pick up a BC Rich Battle Axe, a Jackson Warrior, and maybe a George Lynch ESP. HAHAHA ! Oh, those we're the days. ;0) I shouldn't laugh. BC Rich is back with their see-through Plexiglas guitars again. Brace yourselves. I feel a come-back comin' on. later... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alexandre GRANVAUD" <a.granvaud@...> To: "Mark Vulama" <mark_vulama@...> Cc: "Deathchicken" <deathchicken@...>; "GSPGroup3" <GSP2101@yahoogroups.com>; <2101@...-dod.com>; <gsp-2101@egroups.com>; <gsp-2101@yahoogroups.com>
