So I had a Sovtek [v1] and a Jan Phillips [v2]. don't ask why. I was a dumbass teenager and thought it'd be cool. 9 years later, I've wisened up and decided to throw in a couple of new tubes. Here are my thoughts...... In the V1 I threw in a EI Gold 12ax7, and in the V2 I threw in a Tung Sol 12ax7. I turned on the amp and it was like BAM. Clearer distortion, and great cleans. The "clean tube" setting ACTUALLY ADDS A LOT now. Whereas before it made the cleans a bit warmer but not much. The EI Gold, really does increase the volume, and the content of the sound. The distortions have better texture and I'm satsified. Of course, this is all probably in my head and it sounds the exact same but I really don't think so. Overall really pleased with the setup. If I get bored I might switch them around, and I have an At7 that I might throw in the V1. But why the hell would I do that? I'm a shredder goddamnit.
